Q: Is Ricochet Horse Spray a fly spray?

A: No. Ricochet Horse Spray is a coat and skin conditioner, not an insect repellent. Citronella is known as a natural fly deterrent and repellent, but we have added citronella to a level much higher than commonly sold fly repellent. When combined with our essential oils this high level of citronella does an excellent job of conditioning the skin and protecting it from the bites that aggressive flies and insects leave behind.

Q: Does Ricochet Horse Spray have any liniment in it?

A: No. It does not contain any liniment. Our Ricochet Horse Spray is formulated with natural ingredients that condition the coat and protect the skin from the damages of insect bites.

Q: How can it condition the coat if it contains alcohol?

A: Though Ricochet Horse Spray contains alcohol, there is not a large enough portion of it to cause any drying of the skin or coat. The alcohol is used as a “carrier”. This means that it helps to dilute the oil to make it easier for application. This allows an even distribution when applying it to the coat.

Q: Will the essential oils in the spray make my horse’s coat feel greasy or oily after application?

A: When you initially apply the spray there will be a slight coating. However, the safe and natural essential oils are readily absorbed by the skin. Other sprays use ingredients like silicone that don’t absorb and leave a thick residue after application. The essential oils used in Ricochet Horse Spray will not make the coat oily or greasy after use.
