Q: Can the poultice be used under tack like other Sore No-More products?
A: All of our poultices are safe to use under leg wraps such as standing bandages, but our poultices are not meant to be used under saddle pads or other tack. If you’re looking for a product to use under your tack, check out Sore No-More Classic Liniment or Sore No-More Classic Gelotion.
Q: Is it safe to use on infections?
A: Yes. Sore No-More Classic Poultice is safe to use on areas of bacterial or fungal infections. However, it should not be used on open wounds.
Q: Is Sore No-More Classic Poultice safe for horses that have reactions to harsh chemicals?
A: Yes. Sore No-More Classic Poultice is safe to use on horses that are highly sensitive to chemicals and other irritants. Made with soothing, all-natural ingredients, it’s one of the very few poultices that won’t burn or irritate if left on the skin for extended periods of time.
Q: Do I need to use this poultice under a wrap or can I leave it as a standalone?
A: You can use the poultice by itself. If you are working to draw out heat or inflammation then using the poultice under plastic or paper and a standing wrap will give you the best results. As with any standing bandage, be sure to remove the wrap after 12 hours. Simply brush off or rinse off the poultice if desired. It’s preferred to give your horse an additional 12 hours before reapplying the bandaging.
Q: How do I use the poultice to draw out a hoof abscess?
A: Our poultices can be used in place of or with a hoof packing of your choice to help draw out abscesses. We recommend applying a protective boot or wrap after packing the hoof with poultice.
