Bio:

Laura Chapot is the daughter of US Olympic veterans Frank and Mary Chapot. Frank competed in six Olympic Games winning two silver medals and was the Chef d'equipe for the US Show Jumping Team for 28 years leading them to their first Olympic and World Championship team gold medals. Mary competed in competed in two Olympic Games, won the first Grand Prix held in the US, and was the first woman to win an individual gold medal at the Pan American Games. Laura progressed through the equine ranks of ponies, equitation, and hunters, and now primarily rides show jumpers. Chapot entered the Grand Prix ring in 1995 aboard the famous "Gem Twist". She won her first Grand Prix that year at the prestigious Autumn Classic, was on the US team at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Canada where she claimed victory in the World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix, and finished the season by being named American Grand Prix Association Rookie of the Year. In 1996 she and Gem Twist captured the Budweiser AGA Championships and the Grand Prix of FL over a record field of horses. She followed that by winning the East Coast World Cup League. Since then Chapot has won over a hundred Grand Prixs with 21 different horses. She has represented the US on several winning Nation's Cup teams and won a bronze medal at the Pan American Games aboard Little Big Man. She retired the Open Jumper Championship trophy at the Devon Horse Show and has been the Leading Rider at Devon and the Pennsylvania National many times over. She has been the leading Rider at the Winter Equestrian Festival and the Hits Saugerties Circuit for more than 10 years. Chapot graduated from Drew University Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. In Economics. She received the Wall Street Journal Award for Economics and the Kramer Award for Economic History. Laura is a USEF "R" rated judge for hunters, jumpers, and hunt seat equitation and has served on the USEF Computer Ranking List Committee and the USEF Audit Committee.
