Essential respiratory support, Aleira helps maintain optimal respiratory function in a daily, non-medicated supplement.
Does your horse suffer from chronic respiratory conditions? Difficulty breathing? Allergies, hives or dermatitis? Aleira’s exclusive, research-backed formula is the solution for bleeders and horses with common respiratory issues.
Omega-3 fatty acids effectively address immune and respiratory problems for your beloved horse. However, it takes the right, vegetarian source of Omega-3 fatty acids for your horse to see the full benefits.
Not all Omega-3s are created equal and not all contain DHA. Other Omega-3 supplements rely on fish oil or flaxseed as the Omega-3 fatty acid source. These supplements aren’t easily absorbed or as beneficial as algae-based DHA. Aleira uses the same, safe algae-derived DHA used in infant formula for people.
Aleira is a unique blend of algal-DHA, antioxidant-rich mushrooms, vitamin C and MSM. This effective combo addresses inflammation and immune responses for horses with a range of respiratory issues.
Arenus is proud to offer Aleira as a true respiratory aid for horses with breathing problems.
- Improved performance: Addressing airway challenges keeps your horse comfortable and at the top of their game. Aleira offers effective support for bleeders and horses with respiratory or immune responses. Combats performance limiting conditions like Recurrent Airway Obstruction (RAO), Inflammatory Airway Disease (IAD), allergies, hives and dermatitis.
- Non-medicinal alternative: Powerful respiratory support without the negative side effects of traditional treatments like steroids. This formula is safe for horses that are sensitive to traditional medications. In many cases, horses using Aleira are able to reduce or eliminate their steroid use!
- Safe to use: This equine respiratory supplement can be safely combined with conventional treatments for additional respiratory health support while still being safe for long-term maintenance.
Our research-proven and patent-pending formula offers a unique solution for a wide range of equine respiratory health issues. The ingredients work together to provide unmatched respiratory support.
The right DHA source: Aleira uses a purified, concentrated source of Omega-3 algal-DHA. DHA is one of the most beneficial, natural Omega-3 fatty acids and provides advanced respiratory support. Other Omega-3 supplements that use flaxseed don’t contain beneficial DHA. They contain ALA that doesn’t provide the same benefits. Omega-3 supplements using fish oil expose the horse to heavy metal toxicity. Horses are herbivores and can’t use fish oil sources as efficiently as algae-based formulas. Because our DHA comes from purified vegetarian algae it can be easily absorbed for maximum results.
Proprietary Mushroom Matrix: Exclusive trio of ground mushrooms provides strong antioxidant support, addresses respiratory inflammation and supports the pleural tissues.
Exclusive formula: Aleira combines algal-DHA, our Mushroom Matrix, Vitamin C and MSM into a powerful equine respiratory supplement. Patent pending, this formula is unique and unmatched by any other supplement on the market.
Research proven: Our research was conducted on horses supplemented with the exact doses of our product that we recommend for our customers. Studies proved that Aleira was effective in improving common airway conditions like RAO and IAD. Clinically shown to address performance limiting conditions like EIPH or bleeders with success.

Since my mare, Peanut, started bleeding last fall my vet recommended Aleira. Since putting her on it she is back to running like she did when she was a Futurity Colt. She also is on Steadfast and Assure Guard which I completely believe in too!

my horse won't eat it.

I purchased this expensive product for my 11 yr old welsh cob with newly diagnosed summer pasture associated RAO on vet recommendation . The product is extremely stinky and not palatable and may require slow addition with addition of sweeteners to entice your horse. I can see some horses will probably never eat this because of its noxious odor. I have seen mild to moderate improvement in horses clinical condition with reduced resp rate and nasal flaring and increased performance tolerance, although we have incorporated other measures such as wet hay and eliminate pine shavings dust and his particular disease flare occurs from June- oct. the real test will be this period coming up this summer. I will add to my review after that period
Hopeful so far

7 year old horse was recently diagnosed with IAD and a specialist who has done clinical trials on Aleria highly recommended this. So far my horse is doing much better (combined with steamed hay and soaked alfalfa cubes to avoid mold), but when it gets to be spring it will be the real test. It does smell and taste bad, but mixing with soaked alfalfa cubes has made it palatable. Hiding in grain didn't work. Wish it wasn't so expensive.

Aleira has worked very well on my 19 yr old gelding with heaves. His bouts with breathing difficulties are much less common than before aleira.
I think Aleira is helping my 10 year old quarter hourse mare with Reactive Airway Disease

My mare had an episode of respiratory distress and was treated for pneumonia two years ago. Then, she developed a chronic cough that worsened with cold weather. We had her on Ventipulmin, but her cough returned if we discontinued the Ventipulmin. Upon her vet's recommendation, we tapered her off Ventipulmin and switched her to Aleira. So far, it seems to be keeping her cough at bay. We will see how she does this winter when the weather gets colder as cold air is a trigger for her cough. But I am really encouraged by her response to this product so far. She didn't want to eat Aleira at first but we are mixing it with a little grain and she is eating it just fine now.

Good product. Has helped my 18yr old horse with heaves.

My TWH mare developed heaves after a bad respiratory infection. It seemed that each year she got progressively worse and had more triggers initiating her wheezing. It was so bad that I literally thought I was going to have to completely retire her. I had tried several medications but the only thing that could get her wheezing under control was steroid injections. Her triggers were numerous ranging from extreme heat or extreme cold, certain weeds, dust, etc. and it seemed overwhelming. I was constantly looking for something to get her heaves under control and hopefully a more natural remedy. My riding friend came across an article explaining the research and success rates that were being seen with Aleira. She gave me the contact information and I contacted the vet that had done the research. He connected me with Arenus and the rest is history. My mare improved immediately on Aleira. She went from needing shots every month to only receiving two shots in the last year. It was truly amazing and I am so thankful for this product. My mare has regained her health and I am riding her consistently without any problems. She is a somewhat picky eater but she eats this product just fine. I mix it in her feed every evening with just a very small amount of water. She eats every bit of it thank goodness. I have no intention of ever removing or decreasing this from her diet. I highly recommend it.
So Far So Good

Aleira has kept my horse breathing better so far during the winter months. The real test will be in the heat of the summer.
Too early to tell but palatable

My horse has Meed and my vet suggested beginning Aliera while he's off steroids for the winter. He's happy to eat it and I'll continue to until I can see if it is helpful when allergy season arrives.

When in Wellington, several of the horses have a hard time adjusting. This has helped more than prescription medications for my non sweaters and heavy breathers in the barn. My Grand Prix gelding was put on this when nothing else was helping. He improved dramatically quickly. I have tried to go without it since, and he let me know that was not a good decision. It is now a must in his daily regimen and I couldn't be happier!
have to have it

Works wonders on my teamroping/barrel horse. I will always use it on him and recommend it to others that have similar problems.
It worked for my horse

good product. My 19 yr old gelding has chronic heaves, a steady does of aleira on a regular basis has helped him greatly.
horses won't eat it
Posted by Sharon H. on Sep 16th 2016
None of my horses will eat it. It smells bad, so that may be part of it. I've tried adding syrup, water and other things to their meal, but then they just won't eat their meal. I am not going to hand shove it down their throats. They have to be able to eat with their meal. None of mine will do that. So, it was a huge waste of money for me.
Really helped! life saver!

My Appaloosa mare developed a respiratory problem last summer and we gave 1 dose of Dex which helped. this year she was much worse and even the full course of Dex did not help at all. i was very upset due to we had lost my mini show stallion to heaves just last summer. Our vet, Joan Tennant, said to try this product. It worked! within 3 weeks her breathing was so much improved, I really couldn't believe it! she is happier, more active and overall seems much better. We did try to reduce the Aleira dose to half, but she started to somewhat regress in a week, so she's back to full dose, at least until this heat and allergy weather gets better. thanks for a great product...so far, so good! Oh yes, she ate it right up mixed in sweet feed...and she can be picky!

I have 4 horses on this product, all for different reasons, and absolutely love it. I have one horse with a cough that has been long standing. His cough is controlled with Aleira and during work, he only coughs once or twice at the beginning instead of throughout. Another horse has severe allergies and if he goes off of this product, he breaks out in hives bad enough he can't be worked. Another horse has an allergy problem as well where he swells through his body during the spring and fall. He hasn't done that since I put him on this product and it has been 2 years. The most recent horse is a young horse that got sick and had a cough that wasn't clearing. I put him on the product and was able to be back in work within a week and the cough started clearing much quicker.
I haven't had any problems with palatability with any horses that I've put it on. I add a little water with it in their grain and it sticks to the grain.... they eat it no problem.
New lease on life!

Amazing product! Recommended by vet after my horse suffered a setback from other medication and a new spring allergy season. At the end of his first ninety days I could not believe the recovery he had! I honestly thought before I placed him on this supplement, I was going to lose him. He is on a maintenance plan, at a new barn, outside pasture time increased and living life!

I treated my horse's cough with steroids and it was much better but still evident in the beginning of a ride. After two days on Aleira it is completely gone! I am doing my best to keep the dust down but he is not a candidate for pasture board (suspensory injury plus round bales outside) so this is truly a life saver supplement! I would highly recommend this to anyone with a coughing horse!
