Q: Can the poultice be used under tack like other Sore No-More products?
A: All of our poultices are safe to use under leg wraps such as standing bandages, but our poultices are not meant to be used under saddle pads or other tack. If you’re looking for a product to use under your tack, check out Sore No-More Classic Liniment or Sore No-More Classic Gelotion.
Q: Is it safe to use on infections?
A: Yes. Sore No-More Classic Poultice is safe to use on areas of bacterial or fungal infections. However, it should not be used on open wounds.
Q: Is Sore No-More Classic Poultice safe for horses that have reactions to harsh chemicals?
A: Yes. Sore No-More Classic Poultice is safe to use on horses that are highly sensitive to chemicals and other irritants. Made with soothing, all-natural ingredients, it’s one of the very few poultices that won’t burn or irritate if left on the skin for extended periods of time.
Q: Do I need to use this poultice under a wrap or can I leave it as a standalone?
A: You can use the poultice by itself. If you are working to draw out heat or inflammation then using the poultice under plastic or paper and a standing wrap will give you the best results. As with any standing bandage, be sure to remove the wrap after 12 hours. Simply brush off or rinse off the poultice if desired. It’s preferred to give your horse an additional 12 hours before reapplying the bandaging.
Q: How do I use the poultice to draw out a hoof abscess?
A: Our poultices can be used in place of or with a hoof packing of your choice to help draw out abscesses. We recommend applying a protective boot or wrap after packing the hoof with poultice.

- Emily Thompson, 3-Day Eventing Rider
"I've used the Sore No-More line of products for more than 15 years. From the beginning I was drawn to using an herbal based topical product instead of harsh chemicals. I had used several other topical liniments and poultices throughout the years but had several instances of the products irritating or causing reactions on horses with sensitive skin. My horses use the Sore No-More Performance liniment and poultice every time they compete. I trust it to reduce inflammation and keep their legs comfortable after jumping and galloping."
- Emily Beshear, Professional 3-Day Eventer

"I highly recommend using Arenus Sore No-More poultice for treating any changes you may notice in your horse's legs. If I see any swelling from minor injuries, stocking up, wind puffs, popped splints, etc, this poultice is always my go-to. My vet originally recommended this treatment and over the years I've had so much success with this poultice in both active and preventative treatments. "

- Boyd Martin, Champion 3-Day Eventer
"At the Global Endurance Training Center, the legs of our horses are of utmost importance. Over the years we have used many poultices for leg cooling after intense exercises and endurance races, mostly with less than satisfactory results. After studying the ingredients of Sore No-More Poultice, we decided to give it a try. After the 2009 Tevis ride, we applied the poultice on two of our horses that finished Tevis and used a different product on the other two horses. The difference the next day was impressive. No swelling and no stocking up on the legs where we used Sore No-More Poultice. In fact, we were so impressed with the results, that we decided to carry Sore No-More Poultice and liniments on our website for our clients. Thank You, Arenus, for bringing such a great product to the equestrian community."
- Christoph Schork

- David Wilson
"Oh the Sore No-More Poultice, my word. You know it was an amazing thing, just yesterday, we went and pulled the poultice off the mare that I have here. It wasn’t dry! You know a poultice, once a poultice dries, it is done working. There are quite a few other poultices on the market but they, to me, they do not work. I like to take a poultice off, have some dampness still in it because it means the poultice is still working."
- Doug Hannum, USET Therapist
"The Sore No-More Poultice is used on all of my training horses as needed and I find that they are more rested and ready to work during demanding training periods."
- Shawn Flarida, NRHA Champion & Olympic Medalist

- Jennifer Barrett, Champion Barrel Racer
"My horse was out for training and returned to me with an injury to his front leg. I did not know the extent of the injury at first. However when he arrived the bow was huge and carried a lot of heat. I tried the Sore No-More Poultice and found I liked it much better than Uptite. It was much easier to work with. I felt a tremendous draw of heat through the Sore No-More Poultice. I don't know whether what I was feeling was true heat or energy, but it was profound. The leg cooled out quickly and the inflammation came right out."
- Anne Strawbridge
“The Sore No-More Poultice is the best poultice I have used. We are able to do things with it that you cannot do with other poultices, like use it over cuts and scrapes. It cools out and takes out inflammation like no other.”
- Barclay Tagg
“The Sore No-More Poultice is certainly a higher step up from what is on the market. We have been users of Sore No-More since it came out and think it the poultice is very effective and multi-purpose. It cools and tightens legs great and also s a wonderful hoof packing!”

- Shawn Flarida, NRHA Champion & Olympic Medalist
“As a competitor in Three-Day Eventing, I have tried a variety of poultices to reduce inflammation in my horses legs. When Sore No-More came out with their arnica liniment based poultice it redefined the work poultice. The Sore No-More base that replaced the standard water base helped keep my horses legs tighter and reduced inflammation. The best part of the poultice is that it is safe to use over cuts, boots rubs or abrasions. Horses with sensitive skin will thank you when you use Sore No-More's Poultice on them.”
- Imtiaz Anees
“We have found that the Sore No-More Poultice has amazing results on horses with hoof abscesses. When we suspect an abscess, we clean the hoof, completely cover the bottom of the hoof with the poultice, then cover with a piece of the Spitfire Paper and slip on an Easy Boot. The horse seemed to feel almost instant relief and within 2 days the abscess surfaced and drained. Using the Sore No-More Poultice is cleaner and easier to use than Icthamol and smalls much better.”
- Jann O'Leary Costa
“I like how soft the Sore No-More Poultice is. It is easy to put on and build layers with it. Fabio has 4 white socks and you can imagine how sensitive they are. I saw no skin irritations after using the product. It also has a nice smell. The poultice never made his legs scurf after using. It's nice to know that I'm using a product that is all natural and I don't have to worry about ingredients. It's safe to use on my FEI & CDI Dressage horses. I also like that is can be removed without water so I don't have to worry about fungus.”
- Jennifer Mandracia
“The Sore No-More Poultice has worked wonders for my mare. She is sensitive to different footings, and some of the indoor shows around here use calcium chloride to control their dust. Her legs look okay until you wash them, and then you can see little red dots everywhere against her pink skin. The poultice seems to clear that up. I have put it on my jumper that swells up with Uptite, and his legs look great. I will definitely be getting a bigger tub before the show season, and I threw the last of the Uptite in the trash.”
- Kate Gerhart
“Sore No-More's Poultice is so much lighter than normal poultices – it feels creamier. It goes on so smoothly and easily, and washes off so effortlessly. I found that I used far less of it, and I love the light, fresh scent. My horse had had filling in his one front leg for about 10 days, and I was poulticing and wrapping. After two days of using the Sore No-More poultice without wrapping, his leg was completely down and stayed down. Thank you for such a wonderful product!”
- Kim Walnes
“When Bellinger, my Grand Prix horse, came out of his stall one morning so tender in one front left he couldn't make a 90 degree turn, I immediately iced the leg and wrapped it up with Sore No-More Poultice. My vet confirmed a check ligament injury. After 10 days of this treatment, my vet ultrasounded the leg to find no tears, no strain, and no inflammation – not even two weeks after the initial injury. He's back under the saddle like nothing had ever happened. I've never, ever had such a dramatic turnaround from a simple poultice. My vet is equally impressed!”
- Lauren Sprieser
"This poultice is awesome! So easy to apply and work with! I use the poultice for packing feet and tightening up legs."
- Lisa Lewis-Greene
"I recently started using the poultice on my semi-retired 25 year old thoroughbred gelding. He had a bad trim done by a farrier the first week of June, and between his sensitive soles on the gravel and a major angle change to the hoof he was dead lame. His deep digital tendons were pulsing and hot. I was worried not only about founder but the possibility of a bowed tendon. The poultice made a tremendous difference and kept his legs cool and tight. I recommend Sore No-More products to all my clients and use it in my protocols."
- Megan Kelly
“We love the new Sore No-More Poultice. Great for taking off shows for the first time. We have a show mare we want to breed, and needed to take her shoes off. This product helped the transformation from shoes for years, to no shoes, so much easier. We packed it in the hoof and did not cover it. It stayed where we put it until we took it out the next morning. We use it after a hard day's workout on horses hat would usually stock up. Abscesses; it worked overnight. So much easier than soaking, especially with a horse who doesn't want to put his foot in the soaking bucket. It is priceless.”
